When Osman Ghazi was a child, there used to be a famous Turkish scholar and influential Sufi Sheikh Edibali. Sheikh Edibali was an old friend of Osman Ghazi’s Baba Ertugul. Sheikh Edibali had a great hand in the religious education of Osman.

Apart from this, Osman Ghazi became Sheikh Sahib’s guest many times. Once Osman Ghazi saw Sheikh Edibali’s daughter and upon seeing, he lost his heart and sent a marriage proposal to the Sheikh. But since Sheikh Sahib liked the dervish life, he refused to marry his daughter to Osman Ghazi.

Osman Ghazi Marriages

One night Osman Ghazi was sleeping at the dargah of Sheikh Edibali and he had a dream. A tree appeared from his chest, which continued to grow until its branches spread over half the world.

He narrated this dream to Sheikh Edibali, so he immediately got his daughter Rabia Bala married to Osman. Osman Sahib was a very intelligent and fearless warrior and his complexion was black due to which he was also known as Kara Usman.
Later, he married Umar Sahib’s daughter Malhoon Khatoon and then from Malhoon Khatoon the first Sultan of the Ottoman Caliphate, Alauddin was born.

Death of Osman Bey

Apart from that, many forts were conquered. After the death of Osman, his sword was given to every sultan, so that he too would show the jewels of bravery like Sultan Osman. In 1317 AD, Osman Ghazi besieged Bursa to conquer it which lasted for a long time.

It is said that it continued for ten years and during this time Osman Ghazi passed away on his deathbed and died in 1326 AD and was buried there in Bursa.
